Projects: Project

SECONDARY POWER SYSTEM

Eighty Four Engineering led the development of the Mobile Power System (MPS), a portable lithium ion battery system providing power for electrical industrial equipment when the primary energy source is not present.

Our team:

  • Led the scale-up and commercialization of a secondary battery system while developing and implementing the engineering, manufacturing, and quality systems from prototype to production. The design evolution included three generations of product concepts over two years to meet evolving customer demands.

  • Supported requirements development, hardware design, build and test, and scale-up for initial commercial deployment.

  • Formulated a structured Product Development Process (PDP) and supported the Quadristi team through the rigorous process of obtaining ISO:9001-2015 certification.

BEST TEST & COMMERCIALIZATION CENTER

This state-of-the-art battery testing facility opened at Eastman Business Park in Rochester, New York in 2014.

Our team shaped the layout and floor plan design for the 17,000 ft2 facility including office, lab, and testing areas. On behalf of BEST Test, we interfaced between equipment manufacturers, facilities engineering and architects, and prepared the draft layout.

Through a canvassing of potential users and evaluation of available equipment, our team established operational, safety, and facility requirements enabling the design of a world-class battery testing facility. In addition, we developed metrics and led the evaluation and scoring process to vet and select design and construction management firms for the facility design and build-out.

NOHMS TECHNOLOGIES RELOCATION

Our team organized company consolidation and R&D facility relocation from Ithaca, New York to Rochester, New York with minimal impact to operations.

We led the design, build-out, and commissioning of a 4,000 ft2 battery materials manufacturing facility which included renovated offices, updated wet labs, and a low-volume electrode manufacturing facility.

The relocation included site preparation and move-in, lease negotiations, installation of IT services, and facilities interfacing enabling a seamless start of operations.
